These are small bumps made out of white composite material commonly used for white dental fillings placed on the surface of your teeth. These are absolutely needed to move your teeth effectively with clear aligners as they create a "handle" for the aligner to push on and need to be placed by an orthodontist in the office and removed after treatment.
